Gillian's Comment
“I just returned to London from North America as I am filming a new TV series in Toronto. Normally I take my two daughters with me everywhere. But since I was needed for just 4 days in Toronto, and my girls were in school, I went on my own. And what a wrench it was at first. When I arrived at Heathrow Airport to depart London, I literally burst into tears at the ticket desk. I just wanted my wee ones with me.
Once I arrived in Toronto (Canada), I found an amazing raw foods restaurant called ‘Live’. Not sure if you pronounce it ‘liv’ or ‘live’.
As far as I know, it was the only raw foods vegan restaurant in Toronto.
It was an oasis. The food was absolutely perfect.
My favorite dish was the ‘Live it up Lasagna’. Instead of normal pasta lasagna noodles, they used thin slices of raw zucchini as if it was the pasta. The middle part between the ‘zucchini pasta strips’ contained creamy cashew ricotta cheese. But there really was no ricotta and no cheese. It was made from soaked cashews. They folded the lasagna with a basil pesto (no cheese) and sun-dried tomato tapanade. It was all raw and tasted incredible. There are raw vegetarian burgers, wraps, sandwiches, starters and their range of ‘sinless desserts’ with no white sugar and no refined flour.
They even accommodated anything as a take-away in order that I could keep on filming and eat well too. In fact, by the end of the four days of work, I actually felt terrific, since I had actually been eating almost 100% raw vegan foods while in Toronto.
Sometimes when you travel it can be difficult to eat so perfectly.
But Live Restaurant made it so easy and delicious.
I highly recommend this great restaurant. ”
